Skull & Roses
A nylon crossover with sloping shoulders, RomanticWood and a hand-inlaid skull and rose in mammoth bone and Baltic amber.

The story
Skull & Roses brings the rounded shoulders of a Slope-Dreadnought to a six-string nylon crossover. Made in 2026, No. 780 pairs a RomanticWood double-top with ARS back and sides in highly figured Black California walnut burl with sapwood.
The fingerboard artwork combines a mammoth-bone skull, a red Baltic-amber rose and green Baltic-amber leaves, finished with black engraving. Double amber headplates and the amber soundhole rosette carry the material through the instrument, while the back remains uninterrupted by a rear window.
Its 650 mm scale, 49 mm nut and compound-radius ebony fingerboard were specified as a crossover playing geometry. EVO-GOLD ArcFret, an elevated fingerboard, integrated ArmBevel, Palm Bevel and Rib Bevel complete the playing brief.
A complete acoustic construction
- S-WAVE Resonator double-top construction
- ARS back and sides
- Acoustic Tubes neck with Baltic-amber outlets
- Sigmoidal Sides Joint
- Second-generation African ebony Impedance Bridge with stiffening wings

The photographs show the completed nylon-string instrument. Its Slope-Dreadnought outline can also be a starting point for a steel-string commission, with a separately agreed bridge, string tension and acoustic specification.
