The playing brief
What makes this direction different?
For low tunings, spacious accompaniment or a voice between a standard guitar and bass. The tuning is the first decision; string gauges, scale lengths and the body follow from it.
Strings and tension
The desired pitches and string set must be compatible with the scale and setup. The dimensions of No. 606 are an example, not a promise that every tuning will work on that specification.
Physical reach
Longer scales affect the reach of the fretting hand. We consider the neck-body joint, body depth and playing position as well as the low-register brief.

No. They describe different instrument roles and string systems. Tell us the pitches you want to play so the correct design can be discussed.
Does every baritone need fan frets?
No universal layout is prescribed. No. 606 is a documented multiscale example; a new design begins with the intended tuning and feel.
