Ancient Cypress connects Spirit / Yearning from The Ascent with Winter from Four Seasons, yet the two instruments have deliberately different specifications. Spirit is a flamenco guitar with Vavona Burl; Winter is classical, with all-black African ebony.

A Venetian Opus Virtuoso pairs Ancient Cypress with RomanticWood in its double-top and Golden Madrone Burl for the back and sides. The collection shows how a material becomes part of several distinct instruments rather than a single fixed sound.
