The Ascent
Soul and Spirit.
The Ascent is conceived as a collection of four guitars. The first two are presented here in photographs and film: Soul / Awakening, a classical guitar, and Spirit / Yearning, a flamenco guitar. Two further instruments will complete the collection.
Their shared language is carried through rare woods, natural Baltic amber and artwork that continues from the fingerboard to the rosette and the back. Soul takes the form of Awakening Roots in mammoth bark and bone, against Sinker Cedar and Amboyna Burl. Spirit answers with flame-red amber, Ancient Cypress and Vavona Burl. Each instrument has its own construction, touch and musical identity.
