WAVE Resonator

A complete soundbox. Light by design.

Inside the design

Beyond the double-top.

WAVE is our approach to the complete acoustic body: the double-top, its perimeter, the thin back and sides, and the internal connections. Two thin resonant wood plates around a lightweight organic core are one part of that system, not its whole definition.

We build without conventional internal linings. The perimeter connection is designed into the shell, leaving more of the soundboard near its edges available to flex. A compact internal heel foot replaces a larger block, reducing the mass carried inside the body.

The result is an exceptionally thin, lightweight soundbox whose stiffness is placed deliberately. Top, back, sides, bridge and joints are voiced together for a responsive instrument, from a quiet phrase to a stronger attack.

WAVE, S-WAVE and X-WAVE

WAVE is the original construction. S-WAVE refines the internal structure for a more discreet surface appearance. X-WAVE uses additional material modification. The exact variant is stated in each instrument's specification.

Which top wood?

Cedar, spruce, redwood and other soundboard choices are considered with the model and your playing. Wood selection alone does not describe the complete double-top construction.

How is the edge supported without linings?

The connection between top and sides is part of the engineered body structure. Omitting a conventional lining does not mean leaving the edge unsupported: the aim is to carry the load with less added mass and less locally constrained soundboard area.

Does a lighter body always mean more sustain?

No. Mass, stiffness and damping determine how the strings couple to the body. A strong initial response and a long decay are different aspects of voicing; neither follows from weight alone.

The photographed instrument has its own specification. Decorative inlays and individual artwork are optional and quoted separately.

Your instrument

Chosen together.

The right combination begins with your playing. Construction, materials and optional details are confirmed in your individual specification.
